Report Says Gift Cards Will Be in More Stockings This Year

Market research company The NPD Group has completed its ninth annual survey of consumers’ holiday spending intentions as it refers to gift cards. According to NPD, some thirty-four percent of consumers say that they plan to purchase gift cards this holiday season. Of those consumers saying they plan to purchase gift cards, more females (39 percent) than males (30 percent) say they will make the buy.

Despite that, many of those asked said the feel an actual gift is nicer to give than a gift card.
