Safely Sexy Self Defense for Women

image of safely sexySafely Sexy makes self defense more attractive, according to company founder, Rachel Walter, presently California’s Miss Capitol City. The company provides a new, sleek alternative to traditional pepper spray packaging, and makes the product more approachable for women. Though studies show that every two minutes someone in the U.S. is sexually assaulted, unsightly spray cartridges were often too ugly to convince some women to toss them into their purses, Walter says, so she gathered that women needed a better option. Devoted to promoting women’s safety, Walter developed a, “prettier pepper spray,” that would be more likely to be a constant companion for women in need of protection. “I wanted to empower women to be beautifully prepared,” Walter stresses, “so I decided to come up with beautiful and stylish accessories rather than just protection. I wanted to make something that women would actually want to carry.”

With vibrant prints and plenty of bling, Safely Sexy pepper sprays come in five different looks, including zebra print, leopard print, lime green with black lace, hot pink satin and neon teal. The device is capable of blasting culprits up to 12 feet away, and contains UV identifying dye. With Safely Sexy, women can pack a punch without causing any permanent injuries to their assailant. It can also help small arms retailers connect to the women’s market. “We’re trying to bring women into stores where 90 percent of the customers are men,” Walter says. “It would only add to business for these shop owners.”

More products and designs are in the works, including a stun gun at the end of the year and three new pepper spray designs. Walter says she hopes to release a new design every one to two months. Sprays retail for $19.95 and wholesale for $10 for one to 25 units, with price breaks based on volume. There is no minimum order. Safely Sexy donates a portion of all proceeds to The Wounded Warrior Project, an organization that provides direct programs and services to meet the needs of injured U.S. service members.
