Pacific Solution Marketing began as a retail company, selling its products mainly at flea markets. But after nearly a decade of operation this way, the entire structure and direction of the company was changed to strictly wholesale. This was back in the mid 1990s, and the company hasn’t looked back. Specializing in edged products such as swords and knives, Pacific Solution was appearing at retail trade shows, Renaissance fairs and the like. However, a shift in philosophy prevailed, and it was decided there were better opportunities in the...

High Profit Water Pearls

Beautiful glass vases filled with decorative marbles are easy to find on the pages of decorating magazines, but the flowers in those vases dry out fast in real homes. A new product aims to offer the beauty of high decor with the practicality of a long term, low maintenance watering system. This decorative new “Green” resource for maintaining plants and flowers is called, “Water Pearls.” Water pearls are vibrant and colorful. They not only keep your plants healthy, but beautify and decorate your home, office space, or special...

The Intersoft Group helps independent retailers and distributors avoid the pitfalls that can befall so many when trying to go online with sales. As an alternative to companies without the experience, using software that only they control, the Intersoft Group provides retailers with a seasoned partner, and has been doing so since the 1990s. Intersoft does all the work, but the clients also get to own the license to their own online store. “You’re going to invest a tremendous amount of time and effort into this system, so rather than...

Health Rockers, Inc. has just launched its national multimedia campaign, “Fantasy,” that includes the famous springs of the Nature Coast of Florida. The production utilized the springs to take its characters out of their everyday routine and submerge them into an underwater fantasy. “With our new campaign, we wanted to illustrate how our product can help blur the lines between reality and fantasy. The LovRub family of sexual enhancement products are made from only natural ingredients, that when combined, take the experience to...

Mayday Ready For Disaster

The contrast could not have been more stark. When John Tepel, President of Mayday Industries, Inc., Westminster, CA, got word of a devastating earthquake in Haiti, and utter destruction of Port-Au-Prince (the capital), he was on a leisurely vacation in beautiful Hawaii. He didn’t wait to hear later reports on the climbing toll of dead and injured. He immediately got on the telephone to his California office to begin preparations to donate emergency food rations, water, tarps, stretchers, and other critical items. “It was just something...

Staying True To Closeouts

Doug Hipps, owner of Bargain Max, Charlotte, NC, reports that his customers get the best value at the lowest price from name brand merchandise, thanks to his business focusing on one thing and one thing only: closeouts. “We have stayed true to the closeout business, where a lot of folks put stuff in a package and call it closeouts,” he says. “We stay with what comes in, and we do not augment it with a lot of ‘me-too’ stuff. We are a legitimate liquidator. We get name brands for a fraction of their wholesale cost, as...

IT IS OFTEN AMAZING where a new idea will come from. It may start out small, but then lead your business in a new and exciting direction. Such was the case with Greg Campbell of Garden Oasis LLC in Palm Gardens, NV. For the past ten years, Campbell’s main business was owning and operating a Chevron gas station, a mini market and a gift shop. He was at a trade show last year, seeking merchandise for his gift shop, when he came upon a product that at first intrigued and fascinated him and then won him over: the electronic cigarette. What is...

When Wayne Irwin acquired the wholesale company now called, Irwin Sales, in Baytown, TX in 1991, the firm carried fewer than 1,000 different designs of patches, most of which are designed to sew on a man’s cap. “We didn’t have a catalog, and when a request came in, we laid patches on a copy machine. Many of them came out black,” Irwin recalls, “and it took 104 pages to make a full catalog.” Today it would take three times as long just to duplicate the company’s more than 3,000 patches. And patches are not...
