Gloria Mellinger

Gloria Mellinger is editor-in-chief of Independent Retailer.com and FleaMarketZone.com, as well as Sumner Communications’ printed publications, Independent Retailer, Web Wholesaler and the Merchandiser Group magazines. With 25 years experience driving content creation as a writer, editor and project manager, Gloria is dedicated to bringing flea market professionals, small business operators and Web wholesalers the news, information and insights they need to succeed. Prior to joining Sumner Communications, Gloria was Managing Editor of hudsons magazine—everything kids, a trade publication for wholesalers and retailers, for which she coordinated article submissions, and penned features and briefs. Previously, Gloria was with Survey Sampling International (SSI). As Communications Strategist with SSI, she conceptualized editorial calendars, crafted newsletter, press release and advertorial content, and directed marketing efforts. Gloria began her career with Gorman Publishing, a producer of publications for the food industry. Along with a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism from San Jose State University, Gloria has a Master’s degree in Survey Research from the University of Connecticut. Gloria welcomes editorial content ideas as well as freelance article contributions.

Nikki Baird

Nikki Baird is Managing Partner at Retail Systems Research, an industry market intelligence firm specializing in the impact of technology on the extended retail industry. She focuses on trends impacting the consumer-retailer relationship, along with their supply chain and marketing implications. Previously, Nikki was an analyst at Forrester Research and Retail Systems Alert Group, covering extended retail industry topics. Nikki has an M.B.A. from the University of Texas, Austin, focusing on operations and IT.
